Dr. V V Radhakrishnan, a senior interventional cardiologist with over two decades of professional experience, is currently Professor of Cardiology, Govt Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram.
After finishing his MBBS in 1985, Dr. Radhakrishnan devoted the next few years in achieving his post graduate degree MD (General Medicine) and super speciality degree DM (Cardiology) from Govt Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram. Inspired by his father, a school teacher he developed a passion for teaching. In the course of his career, he took up teaching positions at various reputed medical colleges and lent guidance to many post graduates in Medicine and post doctoral trainees in Cardiology. His subjects of interest are Interventional cardiology that includes Coronary and Peripheral Intervention.
His research work is prolific and presentation of his scientific papers have earned him many awards at conferences. In 2012, he was a proud recipient of Best Doctor award, in addition to receiving Ponnada at the hands of Union Minister K C Venugopal, for his outstanding work in Cardiology. He draws support from his wife Dr. G R Geethakumari, consultant radiologist by profession and two children, who have been his pillars of strength in all his professional achievements.
